CareerScore is a Chrome extension that scores LinkedIn job postings against your LinkedIn profile. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do. The short version: your profile and history stay on your device. When on-device AI isn't available, scoring falls back to a free cloud model (Gemma 4) — only the current job and a short profile summary are sent, and nothing is stored.
When you visit your LinkedIn profile page and click Capture Profile, CareerScore reads the following information directly from the page you are already viewing:
When you visit a LinkedIn job posting, CareerScore reads the job title, company name, and job description from the page you are already viewing.
All data — your profile and your score history — is stored exclusively in
chrome.storage.local. This storage is local to your browser, accessible only to the
CareerScore extension, and never synced to any server or cloud service.
Clearing your browser's extension data or uninstalling CareerScore permanently deletes all stored data. There is no backup. This is by design.
CareerScore operates in two modes depending on your hardware:
On-device scoring (Gemini Nano): On Chrome 138+ with 16 GB+ RAM or 4 GB+ VRAM, scoring runs entirely on your device using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano AI model. Nothing is transmitted to any external server.
Cloud backup (Gemma 4): When on-device AI is unavailable, CareerScore sends the current job description and a compact profile summary to a free cloud AI model (Gemma 4) as a backup. The summary contains your work experience, skills, and education — it does not include your name, location, contact information, or any personally identifying details. Nothing is stored.
CareerScore collects no analytics. There are no tracking pixels, no usage telemetry, no error reporting services, no session recording tools, and no third-party scripts of any kind embedded in the extension.
We do not know how many times you have scored a job. We do not know which jobs you have viewed.
The one exception — the Pro waitlist (optional): if you choose to enter your email
on the waitlist form at careerscore.geekyowls.com, we store that email solely to notify
you when Pro features launch. It is never used for anything else, never sold or shared, and you can
ask us to remove it at any time by emailing waitlist.cs@geekyowls.com.
The extension itself never collects your email — the waitlist lives on our website and is entirely
opt-in.
chrome.storage.local
Host permissions are granted for linkedin.com (to read the job and profile pages you
view) and careerscore.geekyowls.com (our server for the cloud AI backup).
CareerScore does not access any other website.
All data is stored only in your browser. To delete everything, go to
chrome://settings/content/all, find CareerScore, and clear its storage.
Alternatively, uninstalling the extension removes all data permanently.
There is no account to delete. There is no server-side data to request deletion of.
CareerScore is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of CareerScore after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
