CareerScore is a Chrome extension that scores LinkedIn job postings against your LinkedIn profile. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do. The short version: your data stays on your device and we have no server to send it to.
When you visit your LinkedIn profile page and click Capture Profile, CareerScore reads the following information directly from the page you are already viewing:
When you visit a LinkedIn job posting, CareerScore reads the job title, company name, and job description from the page you are already viewing.
All data — your profile and your score history — is stored exclusively in
chrome.storage.local. This storage is local to your browser, accessible only to the
CareerScore extension, and never synced to any server or cloud service.
Clearing your browser's extension data or uninstalling CareerScore permanently deletes all stored data. There is no backup. This is by design.
CareerScore operates in two modes depending on your hardware:
On-device scoring (Gemini Nano): On Chrome 127+ with 16 GB+ RAM or 4 GB+ VRAM, scoring runs entirely on your device using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano AI model. Nothing is transmitted to any external server.
Cloud fallback (OpenRouter): When on-device AI is unavailable, CareerScore sends the current job description and a compact profile summary to OpenRouter (openrouter.ai). The summary contains your work experience, skills, and education — it does not include your name, location, contact information, or any personally identifying details. OpenRouter does not store this data (see openrouter.ai/privacy).
Paid features (LinkedIn Rewrite / ATS Resume): When you use a paid feature, the relevant sections of your profile and the target job description are sent to OpenRouter. The same privacy constraints apply — no name, no location, no contact information.
Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, a Merchant of Record service. CareerScore never
handles your payment card details. When you complete a purchase, Dodo Payments provides an
order reference which you paste into the extension to unlock your feature. This reference is
stored locally in chrome.storage.local — it is never transmitted to CareerScore
or any server operated by GeekyOwls.
CareerScore collects no analytics. There are no tracking pixels, no usage telemetry, no error reporting services, no session recording tools, and no third-party scripts of any kind embedded in the extension.
We do not know how many times you have scored a job. We do not know which jobs you have viewed.
chrome.storage.local
Host permission is granted for linkedin.com only. CareerScore does not access any
other website.
All data is stored only in your browser. To delete everything, go to
chrome://settings/content/all, find CareerScore, and clear its storage.
Alternatively, uninstalling the extension removes all data permanently.
There is no account to delete. There is no server-side data to request deletion of.
CareerScore is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of CareerScore after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
